European Card Review >>

Published bi-monthly, European Card Review is the leading magazine covering the payment cards business in Europe.

At more than 9,000 copies per issue – validated by the UK's Audit Bureauof Circulation – ECR has the biggest distribution in Europe of any cards industry publication.

Its readers are senior industry executives with responsibility for managing all types of payment card programmes. ECR is also required reading for central bankers, regulators, card association executives, consultants, vendors and service providers.

As well as editorial coverage of payments in western Europe, ECR has invested for the past 11 years in expanding its distribution in the dynamic emerging markets of central and eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
ECR today has a stronger presence in this region than any other card market publication.

ECR stays in close contact with trends in the industry, particularly
card processing, POS terminals, contactless systems, mobile and internet payments, and innovations in payment card technology.

Other regular topics include country profiles, credit card programmes, debit cards, internet and mobile payments, supplier and vendor products and fraud. A wealth of tables and statistics provides essential industry data with every issue.

Published annually with the July/August issue, ECR’s standard-setting Buyers Guide is an essential reference work for suppliers and vendors and their customers, while the virtual version can be accessed all year round on ECR’s website.

Launched in November 1994, European Card Review sets the highest standards of editorial coverage in its area of the publishing business, blending timely items of news with in-depth analysis and features contributed by a range of outside experts.

No other publication in Europe comes anywhere near its combination of authoritative editorial coverage and broadly-based circulation to all the major players in the region’s payment cards industry.

Mobile Phone Technology

Mobile Payments World >>

Mobile Payments World is the on-line newsletter from the publishers of European Card Review, Europe’s leading payment cards magazine. Like ECR, its mission is to record and explain trends in payments and to do this in a rigorous, professional way.

Published 22 times a year, MPW provides up to the minute news and analysis of developments, trends and key players in the mobile payments industry. Launched in 2002, it offers subscribers the unique resource of a comprehensive, searchable archive where they can look up MPW’s coverage of the latest technologies, initiatives, pilot projects, vendors, pricing and strategies.

MPW’s editorial excellence is complimented by a unique industry Vendor Zone which holds information and contact details on companies involved in mobile payments and mobile commerce.

Companies which supply products and services to the mobile payments market can use MPW’s website - which records 60,000 hits each month - as a channel to meet their marketing needs. Readers include key decision makers who buy and influence buying decisions and who read the newsletter closely because of its high editorial standards.

MPW is committed to monitoring developments in mobile payments wherever they occur globally. And the potential base of mobile payment users continues to expand everywhere, reaching 1.22 billion mobile phone subscribers worldwide (source: GSM Association), 863 million of whom are served by GSM networks, as of May 2003. Many of them have become accustomed to use their mobile phones for payments for parking, ringtones - and even London’s ‘congestion charge.’

In Korea, two of the world’s most innovative mobile network operators are enabling their customers’ phones with electronic wallet capability and rolling out a nationwide system. In many large shops and restaurants, customers can use their mobile phone as a credit card to pay for goods and services.

But current levels of activity will pale into insignificance over the next few years as m-payments go mass market. TowerGroup projects 1 billion macro-payment transactions (ticketing, remote internet, purchases) and 25 billion micro-payment transactions (MMS - multimedia messaging services - digital content, gaming, MP3 music downloads, parking meters) to be conducted via mobile phones by 2007.

MPW has now covered a series of high profile launches of m-payment projects and systems, including those by some of the world’s biggest companies - Vodafone and Microsoft, NTT DoCoMo and Visa, SK Telecom and Visa. Roll-out of 3G wireless services will boost m-commerce increasingly over 2004-5 and Simpay - the initiative launched by the four biggest mobile network operators, -is likely to prove to be a key element in popularizing mobile phone-based payments, starting early in 2004.

With working business models already in place and with an obvious benefit for provider and client, mobile payments will be an exciting medium for the next few years. MPW will continue to be the markets’s prime supplier of the essential news and analysis subscribers need to:
• Make critical decisions
• Evaluate vendor products and services
• Understand business strategies
• Network with competitors and strategic partners
